Web Portfolio
I believe in Web Standards and in the benefits of accessible design. I utilize XHTML, CSS, and JavaScript (DOM) to create engaging pages that deliver information with a clear separation of content from presentation (visual, print, mobile) and behavior (decorative graphics and animation).
I have worked on the following sites:
Dave's Domain (this site)
Skills Used: XHTML, CSS, JavaScript (DOM and JSON), ASP
When: May 2007
Welcome to version four of this site, my personal site. This re-design emphasizes clean XHTML, CSS and advanced JavaScript to present a portfolio of my web projects as well as my recent online activities including my Flickr photos and my recently bookmarked links on del.icio.us (via the JSON feed).
Clinical Care Options, LLC
Skills Used: XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, User Interface design
When: May 2006 to April 2007
Clinical Care Options creates innovative, interactive, accredited CME (continuing medical education) online programs that anticipate and meet the needs of healthcare professionals. In my role as Web Developer, I focused on the Presentation Layer or Front-End of the site. Improved the User Experience by creating detailed mockups of interface designs for web pages and downloadable applications for hand held devices and realizing those designs utilizing XHTML, CSS and JavaScript/DOM scripting to craft pages that adhere to modern design practices and Web Standards while ensuring maximum browser compatibility (including non-visual browsers and search engine optimization) for the more than 70,000 registered users located around the globe. I created a template that was used for three mini-sites (tools) that utilized XHTML, CSS and engaging behavior provided by the Prototype.js and Script.aculo.us JavaScript libraries (see the screenshots of the HCV Treatment Guidelines Algorithm tool). Internally, I worked to set-up and customize a Microsoft Office SharePoint 2007 server including custom master pages and page layouts.
RKF Engineering, LLC
Skills Used: XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, ASP, User Interface design
When: October 2003 to May 2006
I re-designed the RKF web site utilizing XHTML, CSS and JavaScript. The site uses ASP to check if the user-agent can accept true XHTML (as served by the "application/xml" MIME type) and, if so, serves pages as XHTML 1.1; if not, the page is served as XHTML 1.0 Strict. I also created a section of the site to map points using the Google Maps API. Users can enter points to calculate straight-line distance between them, or points could be loaded from external XML files.
